August 2026 Report

Feathers of Hope Farm

1. Farmer Replication Pilot Project

During August, ClimateCare CBO commenced the Farmer Replication Pilot Project, an initiative designed to replicate the Feathers of Hope (FOH) Model Farm approach at household level on a smaller and more manageable scale. The pilot currently has five farmers benefiting from the program. Implementation commenced with two farmers, Bizaa and Evelene, who have already started preparing their farms and establishing the required components.

Evelene has made good progress and has:

  • Constructed the shade-net structure.
  • Dug the Azolla ponds.
  • Prepared the foundation for the water tank.

A visit was made to Kilonzos Farm, one of the selected beneficiary. During the visit, the farmer
was guided on the next steps required to begin implementing the pilot package. The farmer
expressed eagerness to commence the program and roll out the different components on the
farm.
One of the selected farmers has also requested to surrender her package so that it can be
transferred to another farmer. This is due to her current health situation, which makes it
difficult for her to undertake and manage the pilot activities. ClimateCare CBO proposes to
identify a suitable replacement farmer, subject to approval.

3. Farm Progress

The main demonstration farm continued to make good progress during August. Key
developments included:

  • Capsicum was successfully transplanted to the outdoor production area.
